Once there was a girl named Sally who lived on a farm, which strangely had no animals. This story is about all of the excuses that Sally managed to come up with so that she could fill up her barn with animals the way it is supposed to be.

Sally really wanted some animals. She wined and begged and finally bribed her parents to let her get a chicken. So she went to her neighbor Mrs. Fontenellie and asked if she could have a chicken. Mrs. Fontenellie gladly gave her one and taught her how to take care of " The little angel." Sally was very happy and eager to take her chicken, which she ended up naming Angel, to her mom and dad. They were both pleased that she was happy, but that was only the beginning. She definitely wasn’t finished with her plot.

For awhile Sally was happy with Angel. Then one day she decided that the next step in her plot was about to go on. So to get her plot going she complained to her mother. In doing so she cried, " He’s so small and I want a bigger pet I can play with. So her parents called her aunt and uncle and asked if they could have one of the kittens that were consequently just born. As soon as they said yes they were over there picking out Sally’s new kitten.

For a time Sally was content with her new kitten, which she named tiger, and her chicken, Angel. Then when Tiger started hunting she decided to keep her plot going and went to her mom wailing "Mom he is always out hunting, and he’s always out late and I can never see him!" so she wanted a dog, and she got one. At the pet store the very next day in fact.

For many months Sally played with Bingo her dog, Tiger her cat, and Angel her chicken. Tiger was spending afternoons and even sleeping with her. Then one day she complained to her mom that her dad was training Bingo for hunting and… before she could gripe any more her mom said,

" What do you want now?"

"A horse" she replied quickly. Her mom said,

"Ask your dad," and so she did and she got her horse.

This is how she got a barn, which contained a chicken, a cat, a dog, and a horse, and from that time on she was as happy as can be!
